Sweet Potato
Among New Taipei’s “Three Treasures of Health,” the sweet potato has a later harvest season compared to other regions. This allows the tubers more time to grow and mature, resulting in better quality. Grown along the northern coast near Datun Mountain, sweet potatoes in New Taipei City benefit from irrigation with fresh spring water from the Yangmingshan range, nutrient-rich volcanic black soil, and salty coastal winds. This combination of excellent water, fertile soil, and a unique environment produces sweet potatoes with a particularly fine and dense texture and a notably high sweetness.
