Tankan

Bali Tankan is grown by outstanding farmers in the Bali District. The fruits are harvested, graded, and packaged starting before the Lunar New Year, and are available for purchase or home delivery.
These Tankan oranges are flat and round, with thin, brightly colored skin. The fruits are plump, seedless or with very few seeds, and feature juicy, flavorful flesh. They have enjoyed a strong reputation both domestically and internationally since the Japanese colonial period.
However, around fifty years ago, citrus greening disease devastated the entire Tankan crop in Bali. In 1997, the city government, farmers’ associations, and local farmers began replanting Tankan saplings. With Bali’s unique growing conditions, this effort marked the start of the “Tankan Revival,” making the fruit a festive favorite during the Lunar New Year for its symbolic meaning of “great fortune.”
