Wanli and Jinshan in New Taipei City are the largest azalea seedling production areas in Taiwan. Local flower growers have been cultivating azaleas for over half a century, now passed down to the third generation. Annual production reaches 6 million plants, supplying over 80% of the azaleas used in parks, road landscaping, and building greening projects across Taiwan, with a total output value exceeding NT$100 million.

Azaleas, also known as "Ying Shan Hong" (Mountain Glow), symbolize innocence, love, and sincerity. A distinctive feature of the azalea is the “nectar guide spot” on its petals, which serves to attract insects for pollination.

Common varieties include: Lovely azalea, Satuki azalea, Belgian azalea, Kurume azalea, and native Taiwanese azaleas (Wulai azalea and Oldhams azalea).
